The Shiba-Inu is a compact, agile and furry dog that resembles the Akita. It was brought to Japan from China nearly 2,000 years ago. The Shiba-Inu is the most popular breed of dog in Japan. Shiba means both brushwood and small and could have received it's name from the brush that it hunted in or the red/orange coat color that resembles autumn. Inu means dog.
